The train station of Bordeaux-Saint-Jean, known as Gare Saint-Jean, in Bordeaux, is the largest train station in the Aquitaine region, 3 hrs from Paris, travel time which is supposed to be shortened to roughly 2 hrs with the new LGV Sud Europe Atlantique line planned for 2017.
The trains arriving at the station come from or are going to Spain and cities like Arcachon, Toulouse, Lyon, Marseille, Strasbourg, Lille, Nantes and Nice. Connections with Bergerac, Périgueux, Angoulême, Agen, Pau, Libourne, La Rochelle, Limoges and Poitiers are frequent.

The Bordeaux-Mérignac airport (AITA code: BOD, OACI code: LFBD) is a French international airport located on the commune of Mérignac 12 km to the west of Bordeaux in the department of the Gironde in the Aquitaine region. The airport is used as a base by Air France and Volotea. The airports mostly serves metropolitan, European and north African destinations. It received 4,952,111 passengers in 2014 within its three terminals (A, B and Billo); it’s the sixth largest French airport in terms of passengers.
