BORDEAUX – Destination for All!

October 14, 2014 held a demonstration on the occasion of obtaining the first label destination for all the City of Bordeaux (labeled for motor and mental handicaps) in the presence of Annette Masson, President of the Tourism Association and Handicaps, Joel Solari - Deputy Mayor in charge of disability Delaux Stéphane, President of the Tourist Office of Bordeaux, Isabelle Richard - Deputy Director and CEO Luc Thulliez -In charge of Mission Accessibility - Security DGE.

The aim of the label destination for all is to develop territories offering a coherent and comprehensive tourism offer for the disabled, including both the accessibility of tourist sites and activities, but also the accessibility of other aspects of life daily and facilitating travel in the territory concerned.

This label, launched in 2013 jointly by the ministries in charge of disability and tourism is awarded for a period of 3 years.

The label regards the territories have developed a tourism offer for at least 2 of the 4 families with disabilities (hearing, mental, motor and visual) and are committed to expanding their tourism offer to other families with disabilities and to provide new services available.

Despite being an old city, Bordeaux is really easy to get around. The trams and buses are all accessible, the footpaths had dropdowns; and in many parts of the city, the cobblestones have been smoothed out.

What about the Event site ?

On the competition site, Abilympics France is working closely with partners in order to ensure easy access for persons with disabilities during the 2 days of the competition but also during the ceremonies and other events.

Abilympics will pay close attention to how of all kind of disabilities will be taken into account.
