Opening and closing ceremonies
The opening ceremony for the 9th International Abilympics will take place on March 24th 2016, in the Bordeaux Exhibition Center (Hall 3).
An exceptional and spectacular event to mark the beginning of the competition, presented by
Louise Ekland and featuring wonderful artists from around the globe such as Viktoria Modesta. Come and attend the parade of international champions!
The closing award ceremony will take place on March 26th 2016 in the Bordeaux Exhibition Center (Hall 3). The best Abilympics champions will be receive their awards during this show.
Initiations to cultural and sport activities
The cultural and sports demonstrations area will allow international delegations, local associations and members of the public to participate in fun activities all throughout the two days of the event.
A perfect occasion to showcase other talents and to change people’s perception of the handicap (handivalid dancing, painting, wheelchair basketball, musical shows, wheelchair boxing...)
Workshops: awareness through fun
It is necessary for the public to understand and to have a positive attitude towards the handicap.
This event is the occasion to gain knowledge about disabilities, especially by attending educational activities with a light spirit.

- Heavy truck driving simulation.
- Electrical network installer: first time in a 14mhigh aerial lift with ERDF!
- Introduction to motorcycle driving available to everyone.

Conferences and debates
The competitions on March 25th and 26th are only one aspect of the 9th International Abilympics.
Various conferences and round tables will be offered to professional participants during the event, addressing many topics such as:
- The employment of persons with disabilities in major companies for the employment of persons with disabilities?
- As a system, how can a company develop and build an efficient organization
- Regarding the behavior of work collectives and individual attitudes, what are the observed factors of success and failure?
- Training and Disability
- How did training organizations adapt to the memorandum concerning accessibility to training, in particular regarding pedagogical adaptation to handicap diversity?
- Excellence and performance in protected and adapted sectors.
- The professionalization of Adapted Companies on a European scale.
- Convention on the training of persons with disabilities.
- Technological innovations for the benefit of persons with disabilities.
- The sociomedical digital republic.
- The methods of supporting persons with disabilities towards employment around the world: sharing practices.

Important: For international conferences (French/English), an interpretation system with headsets will be organized, as well as onscreen English and French subtitling and Sign language translation. The conferences destined to a Frenchspeaking public will feature simultaneous closed captioning as well as Sign language translation.
